Colunga and beyond

All told, it took 2 days to reach Colunga. The flight, two buses, overnights in Bilbao and Santander. Partly because of the distance and partly because the trains didn’t line up. It means there aren’t as many days walking, but both Bilbao and Santander are easy, fun places to spend time. Both have become familiar stop overs. Thankfully, they are both large enough to find something new. The bus journey to Colunga traced familiar ground and felt like a speedy coastal Camino recap.

The bus dropped us off and after a scrabble to collect our bags from the hold, we enjoyed a coffee and picked it up the Camino from exactly where we had left it two years before. And, that was it, we were back on the trail, like we had never left it. Walking an easy pace, chatting and just being in the moment.

The daily plan for the camino is easy; get up, pack, breakfast and then walk. For Dawn and I we walk until the next hostle, usual have a celebratory beer, book into the hostle and then find some food. Like so many t-shirts day; Eat, Sleep, Repeat.
