Mousehole Camping
Like so many people, I love Cornwall. I love it all year round. Describing what I like best about it is not easy, because every time I visit I come away feeling it was the best adventure.
This visit took us to Paul, a village in walking distance from Mousehole. We have a camper set up, so it’s important we can walk to the places we want to visit. We don’t tow a ‘toad’ and Maggie the Lab won’t stay in a bike trailer, so we walk.
We set up camp and waited for a break in the rain to walk Maggie. The break never came but Maggie needed to go. So, we left the van in waterproofs and head torches and set off for the nearby village of Paul.
Paul is very pretty, even in the rain, with it’s ancient church and squat Cornish cottages built to weather the weather. But most gloriously, a pub that was open. We sloshed into the packed bar of The Kings Arms and checked with the barman that it was OK to bring a dog in. The reply “no problem, so long as she’s OK with ferrets”. As luck would have it, open mike night was just starting as we arrived. There was nothing else to do, but peel off the waterproofs, order a pint and join in the fun. And, I got to cuddle a ferret!
Mousehole Camping
Mousehole Camping is a small peaceful site with about 10 hardstanding pitches and a grass area for tents. The campsite shares the space with Paul Cricket Club and the local Amateur Football Club. It’s an easy downhill walk through pretty Paul and onto the beautiful fishing village of Mousehole. The nearest shops for supplies are in Newlyn. There is a regular bus that runs from Paul. There are shops, pubs and cafes in Paul but it would be difficult to gather practical supplies.
Facilities
Campers have access to the football clubs toilets and showers which are a walk around the football field. Apart from that, you’ll need to bring your own supplies and entertainment.
There is fresh water, grey water disposal and an Elsan point (particularly clean with soap and hand washing point).
Bus timetables
Handy if you have a camper and don’t want to move it. Or, like a cheeky beer at lumchtime!
Contactless payment on the bus.
